Ehh, would not stay here again. They had no bell boy and asked me to push the cart to my room, which I did. No alcohol in the room, and they wont sell you any from the lobby mini mart after 2 am. Average decor and not enough water in the room for the coffee machine.

I stayed in a King Deluxe room and absolutely loved it! The shower window was a HIT! The hotel itself was really nice and I appreciated the complimentary reusable water bottles. The hotel is giving adults only and I’m here for it. I didn’t hear or see a kid the entire time I was there. The rooftop was also a great place to go and chill. I’d hands down recommend this place to anyone!

I’m a Hyatt Globalist, I travel a lot for work, and I always take a chance to stay in an Andaz when I can. The property in NYC is one of our favorite places to stay, overall. We just stayed at the Scottsdale location a few months back which was amazing.San Diego Andaz though really isn’t an Andaz. If anything it should be a lower end Hyatt Centric or basic Hyatt. If you go to the Andaz listings it has the worst ratings globally, and that’s not a mistake. I thought people were exaggerating about the noise…nope. I was on one of the top floors and even with my industrial strength (the kind jackhammer operators use) ear plugs I could still feel the shaking of my room in the middle of the night. Surprisingly it’s not from the bars really though it’s from all the cars with massive subwoofers that are out front at various points. The neighborhood itself is shady to say the least. You’d think city center will always have some crime and homeless, but the mentally ill homeless population and the smells were a cut above. I’m from the NYC area and lived in Philly for 5 of the last 7 years so no stranger to what comes with big cities, and this just felt extra concentrated. However, all of that could have been forgiven if the room was perfect. It was not. I was there during a heatwave for work, and I sometimes get a headache when flying. What always helps is exercise upon landing, so I did that, and set my room temp to 66° for when I got back. Well it must be a low flow unit bc others mentioned this in their reviews, it barely pumped any air out you literally could barely feel it putting your hand on the vent, and never dropped below 70° all night. Not that 70° is too bad, but that’s by where the thermostat is. Where the bed was it was mid 70s. I was never able to cool down really after exercising with the excessive heat outside as well…and this is supposed to be a luxury property? Finally, the bed killed my back! It was like some 500lb person had been sleeping in it, and it had become U-Shaped essentially. I woke up with the worst lower back pain I experienced in some time. On top of that the room was very dusty in spots and had one of the lights half falling out of the wall. Who likes having a glass shower in the middle of the room too? Who is that for??Moved over to the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel by the water and despite being a little basic inside it is 100x better than the Andaz and a very nice hotel with one of the best hotel gyms probably in the world. Just stay there, you’ll thank me, unless you want wanted to be dead center of the Gaslight, the Manchester is only an 8 min Uber away anyway.

My brother and I took a trip to San Diego for the first time. Although we loved San Diego, I think the hotel was our least favorite out of the whole trip. The one positive is that the rooms were clean. Overall, the location wasn’t horrible, unfortunately, lots of homelessness nearby and the hotel wasn’t in the best surrounding area. The room was super small and a very awk set up. There is a glass wall for the bathroom and the shower is closed off so it’s very tight and no privacy. The rooftop deck is nice to sit at but the food isn’t anything fantastic especially considering the prices. That was a lot of noise from the rooftop deck as well, just something to keep in mind. If I were to come back, I would definitely stay elsewhere.

This could be a really nice hotel in a fun part of town but it's lacking in a few key areas. The finishes and design are both high quality and while the front desk staff is friendly and professional, the housekeeping leaves something to be desired. On our stay, the rain head shower had visible calcification and black mold, such that the water sprayed all over the place. The shower body wash dispenser didn't rise back up for a second pump without intervention and the fitted sheet on the bed only came halfway down from the pillows.Worst of all, the AC would revert back to "eco mode" at 75 degrees every few minutes so the room stayed hot on our August night, enough that we kept waking up to adjust the AC. Not sure whose choice this was, but it's the opposite of what's needed for a good hotel.Hopefully management notices and fixes these issues, otherwise they're going to have a hard time in the inevitable downturn to come.

Convenient location in the heart of the Gaslamp district, but the environment smelled terrible of urine. We stayed a night on the weekend and received a suite upgrade which was a nice experience as a globalist with Hyatt. Style in the room based on decor was okay. Mostly outdated furniture. Large tub and shower with a rainfall feature. Nice welcome note and macaroons in the room. Staff was okay, but nothing over the top often warranted from the Andaz brand. Kind of expected better. We parked in a nearby garage across the street to avoid the $65/night valet fee and ended up paying $19 for overnight parking. The food at the rooftop bar was okay for happy hour. We were in town for a 10k gaslamp run, and enjoyed celebratory beers at the bar. Nothing was special, but instead was quite overpriced at $24 for an appetizer + 3% surcharge on everything. Pool seemed lackluster compared to others we have visited at other Andaz by being small, few chairs. In the evening after a long day spent in Coronado we were welcomed by macaroons on the bar table. Breakfast in the morning was decent, but service was slow and the staff got our order wrong. Took longer than usual, but we managed. Overall a decent stay, but would probably choose the Grand Hyatt again if staying in town in the future.

**Andaz San Diego - A Concept by Hyatt: A Chic Downtown Retreat**Andaz San Diego, part of the Hyatt portfolio, offers a modern and stylish stay in the heart of San Diego's bustling Gaslamp Quarter. With its contemporary design, excellent amenities, and prime location, it caters well to both business and leisure travelers, though there are some areas for improvement.**Ambiance and Setting:**The Andaz San Diego boasts a sleek, modern aesthetic with chic decor that blends comfort and style. The lobby and common areas are designed with a contemporary flair, featuring vibrant colors and unique art pieces. The rooftop pool and lounge are standout features, offering panoramic views of the city and a relaxed atmosphere for socializing or unwinding.**Rooms:**The rooms at Andaz San Diego are spacious and well-appointed, featuring modern furnishings and thoughtful amenities. Plush bedding, large flat-screen TVs, and well-designed workspaces cater to both relaxation and productivity. However, some guests have noted that the open-concept bathroom design might lack privacy for those sharing a room. Additionally, noise from the surrounding nightlife can sometimes be heard in the rooms, which might affect light sleepers.**Dining:**The hotel offers a variety of dining options, including a vibrant rooftop restaurant and bar that serves delicious small plates and creative cocktails. The breakfast options are diverse and cater to different dietary preferences. Room service is also available, providing a convenient dining option for guests who prefer to dine in privacy.**Service:**Service at Andaz San Diego is generally attentive and professional, with staff members who are eager to assist and make your stay comfortable. The check-in process is smooth, and the concierge is helpful in providing local recommendations. However, during peak times, service can be slow, and some guests have reported minor issues with housekeeping.**Location:**The hotel's location in the Gaslamp Quarter is one of its biggest advantages. It is within walking distance to a plethora of restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment venues. Petco Park, the San Diego Convention Center, and the waterfront are all easily accessible. The vibrant nightlife in the area is great for those looking to explore the city, though it can contribute to the aforementioned noise issues.**Amenities:**Andaz San Diego offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay. The rooftop pool and lounge are popular spots, especially in the evenings. The hotel also features a well-equipped fitness center, meeting and event spaces, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The valet parking service, while convenient, can be pricey, and the lack of self-parking options might be a drawback for some guests.**Overall Experience:**Staying at Andaz San Diego offers a blend of modern luxury and vibrant city life, making it an appealing choice for visitors to San Diego. While there are some minor drawbacks, such as noise and occasional service hiccups, the hotel's stylish design, prime location, and overall comfort make it a solid option for travelers.**Rating: 4/5**Andaz San Diego - A Concept by Hyatt provides a chic and comfortable stay in a prime downtown location. With its modern amenities, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere, it is well-suited for both business and leisure travelers looking to experience the best of San Diego.

Hotel needs to decide if it is night club cantering to randoms out of gaslamp that are not hotel guests or are running a hotel. 21+ night club takes over the pool all day all 4th of July weekend. So if you’re a family don’t expect your kids can use the pool. Just expect to kids kicked out of the pool just as the marine layer burns off. Noise all day long in the rooms and unfriendly staff that wishes they worked at a club rather than a hotel.

This hotel was everything and more! I travel often and my hotel is an important part of my trip because I like to feel “at home” and comfortable. This hotel exceeded all expectations. Our flight landed early in the morning so we decided we’ll just drop our bags off at check in and hit the streets. Upon arrival to the hotel we were told we could check in early at that moment AND our room was upgraded at no additional charge. I was blown away by this. The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was great. The rooftop bar was nice but the staff was slow and not as attentive. Pool area is small but we only went once during our stay. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel.

Beware this establishment! Make sure you check out at the front desk if you stay here. Management can not be trusted. I caught them trying to scam me by changing the rates to double AFTER I checked out. Beware of fraud here. Glad I checked the bill. I was going to stay here again tonight due to a flight change, but there are honest hotels that would be much better to stay at.

The rooms are ok but they are not the best. Scratches on the counter and a table with peeling paint, messed up blinds and damaged curtains and such. The hospitality is great. As soon as we entered our room, They called the phone to ask if we were ok, and if we needed anything for our family. The whole place smells good. The effort they put into the design and the decorations does not go unnoticed.Rooftop bar! Rooftop restaurant and rooftop pool. It was a sight to see. And amazing food. The pool is only 3ft deep though. They have a decent gym with adequate equipment.

Unfortunately not staying in this hotel even despite its great location. Stinky hallways, smelly room (cat litter smell!). I requested service to address, but it did not improve. Also, evidently, management is not caring about this place. It is May 4-5 weekend and elevators have March's calendar of events. What a pitty since this hotel has all to be a great spot in an awesome spot in SD.Pool area and bar are nice; STK is nice but way over priced for it's offerings and quality.Room was quiet even though it faced noisy part of street. Shower amenities amazing. However, the smelly room and hallways unfortunately did it for me. And the outdated posted content in elevator just disengaged my willingness to return. Hyatt and managers!!! Take care of this property and it has amazing potential. (PS: T.J. Miller was here, but who cares).

The house cleaners stole my laptop while I stayed at this hotel during tableau conference in 2024. I cannot recommend anyone to stay at this hotel or the safety of your belongings in the room. Please use the safety deposit box if for some ungodly reason you need to stay at this hotel.I have evidence of my laptop being taken while I was away from the hotel. There are find my iPhone notifications which clearly show my MacBook being left in the room. Somehow after 2 years of owning this laptop, it disappears from the face of the earth after a house cleaner enters. The security team refuses to give me logs or has any video surveillance. I will be pursuing legal action. Please be weary of your belongings.

Average stay - this property lowers the bar for the Andaz experienceOverall, staff attempted to be nice and as helpful as possible, but the property seems worn, tired and dated, and the food scene is eclipsed by the experience at other Andaz properties. The room had a few maintenance/cleanliness issues that were unrelated to the bed (bed felt crisp and clean) so I'd characterize these as more operations & maintenance issues. Also, FYI I stayed at an interior courtyard-facing room, which I think saved my sleep, since this neighborhood is PARTY CENTRAL.

Let's talk about the facade of friendliness plastered on by the "manager". At first glance, their smiles and courteous demeanor seemed genuine, but as the saying goes, "actions speak louder than words." Throughout my stay, I couldn't shake off the feeling that their kindness was nothing more than a façade for business purposes. It felt forced, insincere and ultimately left me feeling uneasy.Good looking rooms and luxurious hotel, but felt uncomfortable with the staff.

Great location, close to most things. We enjoyed walking around the entertainment district and being so close to the water. Rooms are very small, the shower floors are so slippery that both of us wound up having to put down a towel just to stand inside, surprised rubber mats are not provided. After our second night of having no housekeeping and running out of towels, Ian at the front desk provided many excuses and was completely ignorant to deal with. This location also boasts about having an STK roof top restaurant. They do not!! STK is downstairs, the bar and menu up top is managed by the hotel and has a different menu. It wasn’t a horrific experience but at this price point we would expect much better.

The pizza itself is as good as you can expect it can be, so no problem there. You have to hit the buzzer for permission to enter, which is kinda weird. I guess to keep certain criminals or unwanted clients from getting in. And that makes you think about the area you're in. Customer service, I'm afraid is average. At times I get an excellent crew with great service, other times I get an obviously bored crew, and one night my pizza was actually done and waiting on me on their table for several minutes while those on shift were in the back somewhere-all of them. My final complaint is THERE ARE NO CHAIRS while you wait. I understand there may be good reason, but you don't want something like that to hinder sales. I sometimes pass up this Poppa Johns because I know I'll be on my feet the entire time. Not good for my back or my damaged knees...

The breakfast items from The Rooftop were delicious and the service was very quick. We stayed with our two young kids and we thought the hotel was in a very convenient location. The hotel stay was fantastic, with a very welcoming and friendly staff. The location was perfect, and I would certainly choose to stay here again for either business or leisure. The room itself was excellent. In terms of nearby activities, the Padres ball park was just a 15-minute walk away. I felt very secure at this hotel, and its walkability to various amenities, including restaurants and happy hour spots, made the experience even more enjoyable. The food at the hotel was desirable, and it's worth noting that they proactively cleaned the room daily without needing to be asked. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

I've been a loyal Hyatt customer forever. As such, I didn't read reviews before I booked this hotel as I have never been disappointed by any hotel by Hyatt. What a mistake! The room was great ( rm 322),-typical Hyatt high quality furniture and fixtures. However, the night was more like a nightmare than any place I'd stayed possibly ever. My room on the 3rd floor was right across from the comedy club and various other restaurants and places in the gaslight district. The walls may as well not even be here because I could plainly hear yelling, laughing, screaming, honking cars ALL NIGHT LONG. When I finally was done trying to sleep at 4:30 AM, I turned on the light next to the bed and found 2 packs of ear plugs and a small note to let me know it could get loud in this area of the hotel. Great. Who looks for earplugs at a Hyatt hotel? How hard would it have been to warn me on check-in that this room is similar to sleeping outdoors? When I called in the morning to the "host", he explained it's an "old hotel and the walls are thin". Oh, good to know..a lot of good this does me now! And it was clear he couldn't are less. I'm guessing these folks are used to receiving similar calls. I've got a busy day ahead of me as I'm here on business and I'm exhausted. Beyond disppointed with my experience and I'm rating it a two only becuase I have a soft spot for Hyatt hotels. I wouldn't recommend business travel in this hotel. If you are coming here to party, it may be OK.

Don't stay here! My husband & I, utilized the valet service and the valet failed to lock the car door. As a result, someone went into our car and rifled through our stuff and paperwork (that was in the glove compartment), and also stole numerous belongings that were in the trunk and front driver compartments. The hotel and valet took absolutely no responsibility of the situation!

This is probably the worst stay I’ve had under the Hyatt brand in the past couple years.Edit: I forgot to mention I’m a globalist member and this was my experience for my fellow globalists1. The location, while yes it’s in the gas lamp district, my view from my room was the side where the Salvation Army building is and that view is a side walk filled with homeless and tents. They are causing probably half of the noise issues throughout the night. Definitely does not feel like a safe area to walk by near the hotel as the sidewalks are covered with homeless if you try to to walk that way.2. The room felt very outdated and very small. It felt like I was in a nyc size room but with a outdated look.3. Housekeeping never would come unless I kept reaching out to the front desk. I confirmed multiple times with the front desk for daily housekeeping, but was just told it was from 9-5. However there were tons of housekeeping staff on my floor and they said they didn’t have my room on schedule.4. Breakfast experience, the restaurant on the roof is sooo slow. We decided to not go eat in person the rest of the stay and order room service. That was very slow as well compared to other Hyatt’s ive stayed at.5. Front desk- I had reached out to the hotel a week before my stay asking if they could place an order of flowers in our room during a specific day as I was getting engaged and wanted my fiancé to come back to the room at the end of the night with a surprise of flowers. I was told he’s and given a florist to work with. I purchased and shared the details prior to my stay. When we checked in I went back to the front desk and confirmed that everything was set for the following day they said yes well place them when they arrive tomorrow…. Then the next day we spent all day out and we go back to the hotel, and no flowers in the room. I reached out to the hotel and they said they had flowers but no notes to deliver them to my room. At this point I ask for them to be delivered and spoke with the front desk. They said sorry and we’ll make some notes about this. No urge to try to make right aside from waiving a beer I had purchased the night before.I reached out to the hotel customer service email about my experience, especially with the flower situation and no response since I emailed them a week ago. They do not value customers nor strive to provide a great Hyatt experiences. If I could redo my trip, I would have stayed at the grand Hyatt instead of the Andaz San Diego.

The location and ambience of the hotel is lovely, Chicken was easy and expedient, My only gripe would be, Is that, I went out in casual clothing to pick up some dinner on fifth avenue, Upon my return, I was questioned at the front door about whether or not I had a room at the hotel, I was absolutely flabbergasted by this interaction. Of course I replied absolutely. In which the young man looked at me hesitantly. And then I open the door for myself. I would not call that a great welcome..

This place in my opinion is NOT 5 star, I paid for their top notch suite, there was no tub, a oversized tub for a roof top pool, my so called suite had two huge windows one was directly next to another hotel room and tje other gave me a perfect view of a complete homeless neighborhood. For the price and points I've definitely have had much better Hyatt experiences. Very heavy urine smell everywhere in the area, and is very over rated.

Unfortunately I had a poor experience. I requested extra blankets at 8 PM. I called about four or five times checking in on this request because an hour + more passed. I finally got blankets in the room past 10 PM (again after calling over and over) and when the blankets arrived, there were blood stains on them. I decided to not even bother at that point calling again to fix this because I needed to go to bed. I expected better from them!

Stayed here at Andaz San Diego for the weekend to celebrate my partner's Birthday along with our family of 8 in total. We had a dinner at STK Steakhouse downstairs which was great (review to follow) . They have sent us a bucket of iced champagne which we were able to enjoy during our dinner. I thought that was a nice gesture and it was very much appreciated by all.The location of this hotel was great because it is right on the heart of Gas Lamp Quarter and everything is walkable, and if you decide to go to have some ocean activities, like we did boating, we were just an Uber 15 minutes ride away. The rooftop bar, which was called STK rooftop, but found out had nothing to do with downstairs STK, was nice in terms of the view and service. While the cocktails we had were good, we did not have food so I would not be able to have any opinion on their food. The only thing that was unfortunate was that the hotel rooms were a bit gray and dark. We booked a suite and we could not figure out how the suite was very dark in spite of turning all the lights provided. The service in the front desk was amazing. They were all very professional and willing to help.

Went to a party here last night, the management was terrible. Honestly the entire night was a scam and a rip off. We paid $55 per person in order to not be let inside until 11:30 pm, when the party was supposed to start at 9. Once inside they ended up closing off the second room for “crowd control” even though it not was that packed. The music was awful. Everything that was promised was not delivered. The curly-haired manager was on a power trip. I can honestly say this was one of the WORST events I’ve ever been to. I don’t know who was in charge of this but I hope they are ashamed for scamming people out of their money. You could not pay me to step foot in this hotel again. I repeat: STAY AWAY!!

I’m staying here while attending a conference at the convention center. It’s about a 10-12 minute walk and with the nice weather here, hasn’t been a hassle. There are a lot of shops, restaurants and pharmacies within a couple of blocks. My only complaint is my room. It has a standing shower with glass doors, and water escapes while showering. One morning I had standing water near the toilet after showering and didn’t have enough towels to clean it. And the sink was divided from the rest of the room by a large, glass wall which made me feel cramped when blow drying my hair and getting ready in the morning. However, the front desk was really helpful whenever I needed something, including foam pillows and dry cleaner recommendations. Overall I would recommend if you’re looking for a spot in the midst of Gaslamp, because it can also be a bit noisy at night.

A solid property in the Gaslamp district, we enjoyed our stay here. The rooms aren't the greatest, definitely on the small side. But the bed was comfortable. They come with complimentary snacks. On the bottom floor is the STK restaurant. And STK does the light bites on the rooftop. The rooftop pool is small, but drinks were good. Food was overpriced for size. The gym was very small. The rooftop offered salsa music one of the afternoons. The rooftop has a great skyline view. The staff is very nice. There are many restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk, so it's a good area to explore on foot. If you're going for a Padres game, it's a 10-minute walk to the stadium.

Our experience was great! From the moment we checked in up until we left—the staff was amazing! Katie, the director of operations made us feel very welcomed, even while the hotel was throwing a pool party on the Fourth of July and for the remainder of our stay. The bartenders at the pool were very attentive and housekeeping did a great job tidying up the room. Valet and security were very helpful opening the doors and being professional. Great stay in San Diego with a wonderful rooftop pool and hangout bar. My only critique is the rooms and bathrooms could be updated. The oversized furniture made the room feel even smaller than it already was, HOWEVER the mattress was fantastic. I like a firm mattress and this felt like home. As always, towels need replacing so they can be softer.

I've stayed at Andaz in Hollywood before and it was so noisy and bright that I vowed never to stay there again.Unfortunately Manchester Grand Hyatt was all booked up so we decided to give Andaz San Diego a try. Wish we hadn't. Didn't realize the homeless shelter was next door with tents all around. Before 6 AM, because the sun is out, the homeless start turning on their music speakers, dogs are barking and I could see them already shooting up drugs in broad daylight from my window.I don't feel safe going on a walk to get breakfast due to the location. While the room is fine and there are many amenities, first and foremost I came here to sleep. I don't know what it is with Andaz, but it's impossible to get a good night's sleep here.Visited: June 2023

LOUD! Let’s start with the elephant in the room, this hotel is extremely loud. The windows are very thin, so you hear everything from the street - so bad that they put ear plugs beside your bed.Moving along to the next issue, the rooms. The rooms are pretty spacious, but very dated. The whole hotel really needs to refresh to bring it up to todays hotel standards.Overall the staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooftop was spacious with a nice pool and bar.

This hotel is not for people who want a good night of sleep - it has a rooftop pool and bar that will play loud music till at least mid night. Might be the perfect place for party guys and gals - but if you are not a party animal, try some other places to stay with during your SD visit.

Great location in the Gas Lamp district. Lots to do and see here. Rooms are expensive and small!Love the complimentary snacks! Stay on a floor below the 6th. The rooftop bar is a bit loud, but they give you earplugs in the room to compensate.Staff is super.Beautiful views from the rooftop.

Rooms are mediocre at best! They need to work on getting better mattress, also the pull out beds are prison mattresses! Unexceptable. Do better Andaz. Especially because of the fact that your amenities aren't all that. Pool is tiny and no hot tub ???? Come on you have to have a hot tub. Anyways just my thoughts.

My husband and I stayed at the Andaz San Diego to celebrate our birthdays and they exceeded my expectations. There was champagne and treats waiting for us in our upgraded room on check-in. The staff was extremely attentive as well. The rooftop STK bar was very lively with tasty shareable bites and delicious drinks. The views of the city from up there at night are beautiful! The hotel is an easy, short walk to 5th Ave’s restaurants, bars, and night clubs. Because of it’s proximity to so much nightlife, it gets LOUD at night, making it very difficult to sleep but the hotel provides ear plugs if you need them. We also walked to Seaport Village one afternoon to people-watch. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider the Andaz if we return to San Diego!

Nothing super wrong with this hotel but it just didn’t wow me like other Andaz properties have. My room was spacious and comfortable but sort of a cave, with the window facing another wall. The heated pool closes at sunset and there’s no hot tub. The gym is on the small side, too. Worst of all is the out of control homeless situation, which is not the hotel’s fault, but it’s not exactly fun to walk around the neighborhood with tents everywhere - including right across the street from this property. I would avoid this entire area in general for a while.

I stayed in Room 418 and it was a good, spacious room facing the street. Had a couch, two shower heads and a fabulously comfortable bed. Great shades on the window to keep light out, and really appreciated the ear plugs and nose machine they provided in the room as this is downtown SD and can be a little loud.Service was top notch! They texted me to check if I needed anything in the room which was a very thoughtful touch. Everyone was friendly and wanted to help. Thank you!Location is great, walking distance to so many great bars, restaurants and cafes.

The hotel is stylish, modern and artistic. Their style is truly something beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous and everything works 100%.The Andaz team, namely Aimee, Lora and Ismael are incredible. They are welcoming, friendly and so helpful. We enjoyed their company and appreciated their friendship during our visit here. The location is a bit deeper into Gas Lamp and if you know the roads then you can navigate your way safely through the city.Hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did.

This hotel really values loyal customers. As a return customer and a globalist, I am upgraded to a premium suite. I am usually upgraded to standard suite or better view in most Hyatt hotels I stayed. Welcome wine, rooftop bar at night ... Very relaxing stay here. Wake up in the morning, can enjoy a great breakfast on the rooftop. I like the cold winds. They also put some heater around for those who like it warm. I like this hotel. Will come back later.

This is definitley not a 4-star hotel. If it ever was, it was a long time ago. The rooms are not the best, pretty worn. The shower temperature was very difficult to get warm, you almost had to put it on cold, but not too far or it would get cold again and the water would pool and leak out of it. The room service steak was raw. The restaurants are OK but definitely overpriced for what you get. You are better off eating nearby for better and more affordable food. It's incredibly loud due to gaslamp so they give you earplugs. That is expected for location but still, I was very let down by these reviews. This hotel is 3/3.5 stars at best unless they renovate.

Unacceptable services- house keeping service did not happen even I specifically requested the service in the AM including fresh bedsheets. Same thing happened when I requested amenities during my stays for the room change. Serious communication problems between staffs. Can not understand how specific request to the front desk did not transfer to the house keeping department. For TWO TIMES! Are the notes you take for Fun or for real? Very disappointed as I have been a continuous Hyatt customer and a discoverist. Also, the front desk’s attitude was too flamboyant. When I told them the housekeeper forgot to refill the body wash- there’s no sense of apologetic gesture. That’s not proper way of hospitality in anywhere of the worlds. Come on Andaz you need to grade up!!

I'm so angry at this place that I'm spending time to write how terrible the experience was. This place is located in down town and parking was impossible. They charge $52 for valet parking, seriously? why don't you rob me instead?let's talk about the room. the room is nice, but it does not block noise at all. the hotel is on a busy street and even on the 5th floor the noise level is still unbearable. I was not able to sleep at all. ironically they have ear plugs on the night stand for our convenience, so obviously they realize there's a noise problem.I've always had respect for Hyatt hotels, but this one really shames the Hyatt name. Stay away from this hotel, you've been warned.

Our room number was 416. Our stay was horrible. Was not able to get a good night sleep for the time we were there. It is VERY NOISY area. People partying and screaming til 4 in the morning and not to mention noisy vehicles driving full speed. Hotel staff were friendly and the restaurant was great.

Great location, walkable distance to many restaurants, food and coffee spots, bars and also a short drive to anywhere in SD.Rooms are slightly small but comfortable. Bathrooms are beautiful. The good: centrally located, friendly manager to help address issuesThe bad: First room the A/C was broken and the fans sounded like birds chirping, second room was the loudest street noise I've ever heard from a hotel room. It was on the 5th floor so I can only imagine how loud it would be on the lower floors. You know your windows don't insulate any noise at all when they need to offer ear plugs in every room. And yes, is the part of the city busy and loud? Of course it is. But I live in a loud part of San Francisco and my windows actually insulate noise well. It is possible to do if you have good windows.Third room I was moved to was a handicapped room. That's fine I guess, I needed a quiet place to stay with a functioning A/C (I know, so much to ask for...). But in that room, the shower didn't have hot water for 15 minutes so they had to repair that too.All in all, this was far from a luxury hotel experience. The manager Emelina was very nice and tried to make the most of these bad circumstances. But the hotel is in need of some major upgrades and is far from the Hyatt standard I am used to.

My wife & I stayed at the Andaz as part of our honeymoon, and I was blown away with the attention to detail, respect for loyalty, and luxury Hyatt has created here.It started at check in with a great, responsive front desk & valet team. Offered a free alcoholic beverage. Of all the hotels we stayed at during our honeymoon, this was the only one who did something special (and left us an entire bottle of champagne!). The room we stayed in was spacious and on the top floor. Rooftop is beautiful and gives great views of the city (great place to get some work done during the day). The two cons people mention is the noise & the parking cost. The location is essentially the cause of both of these, so don’t go into it with false expectations. You’re staying at one of the most expensive and popular parts of San Diego, right across from many popular bars (check out Coin-Op). Things were loud, particularly on the weekends, but the hotel gives you a white noise machine and ear plugs. Bars get quiet around 10-11 on weekdays and 12-1 on weekends, but we’re night owls and weren’t bothered much. The hotel is a sexy (shower had a glass viewing wall into the bedroom), modern place to spend a few nights around a popular nightlife district — not a family-centered, quiet part of town.

I think the price is over-charged. Even though the reception counter staff are very friendly, but the room doesn’t keep up to the standard as charged (with concept by Hyatt!). The most disappointing part is that when 7 of us (we booked 5 rooms for 4 nights) went for breakfast this morning at the hotel, we were not assigned a breakfast table. There were a number of empty round tables but were all reserved for private event with no one around yet. Instead we were asked to have our breakfast at the bar counter which have only 2 available seats. We need to take turn if all of us wanted to have breakfast there. This is really ridiculous and unbelievable. The staff suggested us to walk across the street to have breakfast…. What an experience! We still have 2 more nights. Hopefully this won’t happen again for the next 2 days. Let’s see….

Fairly slow service for simple things like an extra pillow or a robe (45-60 minutes), and then bang and yell repeatedly when it takes more than 5 seconds to get to the door. They also charge a $30 extra fee for a selection of random choice benefits which aren’t all that appealing, and they will not refund you or accommodate you if you can’t use any of them (and no tote bag in the room). It really just seemed like they don’t care which is too bad considering we wanted a fun night in a nice place for an evening and it just turned into an overpriced headache

We had a great stay at the Andaz. All of the staff were really attentive, friendly, and professional. The rooftop was a nice place to start or end your day with pretty good drinks (esp for a hotel bar). The room and bathroom were comfortable and clean. They also treat World of Hyatt members well. The biggest downside was the noise at night due to the hotel's location. It's located in Gaslamp and the bars around the hotel blast music very loud.

Fun and bit cheesy recreation of old Europe, this is the Disney version of Europe. Since it's a outdoor mall, great to visit during COVID times. It's a fun and quirky get away from the typical Southern California tourist trap. We specially liked the little bakeries and pubs. The parking lot is tiny and so are the spaces, I can't imagine what it's like on a crowed weekend night. Come check it out.

Overall good experience with nice rooms, helpful staff, and convenient location. The rooftop is awesome when it’s open, but that’s only when the restaurant is open. This alone is strange since the roof features a pool and several seating areas that should be available even while the restaurant is closed. Also strange is how the rooftop restaurant closes at 9pm every night (even on weekends). Nobody at the property was able to explain why it closes so early. The website states the limited service is due to “local mandate and government restrictions”, yet no such mandate or restrictions existed in January 2022.I definitely recommend checking out this Andaz property, just don’t be surprised by the limited availability of the rooftop area.

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay in San Diego. Our king suite was beautiful and spotless, beds and pillows and towels so comfortable, and every interaction with team members was so personal, helpful and easy! I went to a conference at the Marriott while my partner worked remote in the room…no complaints about the reliable WiFi. Rooftop pool was exceptional. Cold brew on tap in the lobby sang like a sirens song to us everyday and was so appreciated! Thank you for the wonderful stay and work break in a big city from Alaska! Keep it up!

I stayed as a Hyatt Globalist and really enjoyed free breakfast on the rooftop. The roof in general is a really nice place to hang out and the bar is solid. Location is great if you are planning to go to the bars in the gaslamp district (I was). I would not stay here as a family but I enjoyed it. One of my friends got an exterior suite and the other got an interior suite. I would definitely be upset if I paid for a suite and got an interior one. In my regular room, the bathroom was a bit small and there was a bit of street noise but this is a solid option for San Diego overall.

I think Andaz San Diego is a fantastic hotel for those looking to enjoy a nice night out downtown. The hotel itself is located directly in the centre of downtown—- walking distance to an abundance of establishments, you will find getting to and from the Andaz a breeze! It’s also a less than 10 minutes drive from the beach which is great if you want to hit the beach for a day! The interior is very stylish/modern and everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly! The rooms are also very spacious compared to near by hotels and the Andaz shower is very cool! Please be prepared to pay for valet as parking isn’t included! However, the hotel itself is located directly in the center of downtown so you may not even have the need to grab the car as you’ll likely find yourself too busy exploring all of what downtown has to offer ! I will note that if you are more so looking to relax and wind down for a family outing then you may have better luck at other Hyatt’s outside of downtown as the Andaz really shines as a hotel catering to its perfect vicinity to all of the various food options and nightlife surrounding it. I initially had some minor concerns with this Hotel however the manager Amanda addressed my concerns and truly provided amazing customer service! I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore downtown and have a good time with friends.

Decent concept but poorly executed when it comes to your rooftop restaurant. It seems like a second thought or one more way to make an extra buck in these last days of the pandemic.Work on it and maybe I'll give you 5 stars. In the meantime think about getting more organized and provide better service. The make bartender there is exceptional. He was friendly, kind and accommodating. My boys loved the experience for it being a first meal on a rooftop

Hotel bed was very comfortable. Generally nice and in good shape. Roof and pool space fantastic.Problem with the latter is that it's the only real common area space at which to hang and they book it for events. I actually booked this hotel for the roof and pool area to relax at the end of a long trip. It was a Sunday and I was unable to go. So the space is fun for the attendees if you're having an event, but if you're paying for the hotel in order to have that space, then you may be out of luck. The response from the hotel was that "it is a bummer". So know that you don't necessarily get access to the best part of the hotel when staying here and that they really don't care. For a hotel which promotes that area so much for its guests, kinda poor form and worse response.Rank low as it's misguided to advertise something to a guest they may not get and then the poor customer service around the issue. They email some customers letting them know, but not all depending on how you book, apparently. I was never informed according to the staff.Cleanliness was an issue as well. There was hair all over the bathroom which is a bit gross at any time, but particularly during the pandemic.Update. And despite the statement the response regarding roof top partial opening for guests, a hotel employee was on the roof blocking the entry and plainly stating it was closed for a private event.

Will never stay at this hotel again. First off the rooftop bar was closed during the week 2hixh when I called to see if it was open and that was not mentioned. The bar was open in the morning for breakfast but the rooftop was filthy. Floors look like they hadn't been cleaned in months. No ice in the ice chest on our floor plus the other floors I checked. Room was so small we could barely fit all our luggage in it. We just had a terrible time staying at this place. The staff was at least as helpful as they could be. I blame all of this on management.

How weird is it for a hotel to not offer pads or tampons? The workers when asked could only give a stone walled “No” when asked if their roof top restrooms offered these items. It’s a basic necessity. Their pool party event itself was fun. Get there early if you want a seat. The drinks at the bar were not super strong so stick to canned drinks or beer if you’re looking for something more.

What an amazing hotel, with an amazing staff! The front desk employees really go out of their way to help you. The General Manager answered a email I sent, extremely fast, which is awesome considering how busy managers are especially now. The property has an extremely convenient location right in gas lamp, a little over a mile from little Italy. The only thing I can say negative at all is yes it can be noisy from the street, but that is not the hotels fault and they even provide you with super comfortable ear plugs that makes that issue go away. The staff really makes this hotel in my opinion.

Not great for families with young kiddos. Staff is AMAZING and lovely and wonderful but be advised if you’re toting youngins. Room was nice but did face a wall of other rooms and was around an atrium that funneled up the insanely loud gym-inspired house music from the restaurant below. [Think trays of shots with sparklers]. Kept waking up our one year old. Front desk was so understanding and did best to help but I think this is more the vibe — young things looking to smash and take advantage of the bars just outside and sleep it off next morning. That’s definitely on us for misreading the situation when booking. They did accommodate us super nicely with a pack and play and were so sweet with our little girl. It just wasn’t the right fit for young parents. Also the self Park is in a dodgy public garage that’s a couple blocks walk. but again: everyone who works there is incredible, friendly, professional and helpful. I would say look elsewhere if you got kids and especially on a weekend.

Beautiful neighborhood.SOME of the Staff could have been better.Valet service was overpriced slow. Had issues with communication with the Front Desk at times. The location is great (in terms of walking distance to the gaslamp - but lots of loud homeless right around the corner - thus the hotel provided ear plugs and sound machine). The rooms are more than just fine. The common areas are clean and contemporary. Maybe we stayed during an unusually loud and raucous weekend - the pool and hallways at night were not tranquil by any means. There's absolutely nothing "wrong" with this place, but it might not be at the top of our return list.

Spent a weekend in San Diego and stayed at the Andaz. The Hotel is outstanding! The staff is wonderful and extremely accommodating. It was my significant others birthday and the staff surprised us with a bottle of champagne and two glasses! Did I mention how wonderful the staff was? This hotel was great! The beds were super comfy and we absolutely loved the walk-in shower. The staff was very friendly. We asked for a room on the highest floor sobwe could have a view and they accommodated. They also had the pack n play ready for us and sent up a microwave so we could warm up baby food and bottles. The food was delicious and we loved the rooftop pool. We didnt care for the steakhouse next door. Parking is expensive and it's down the street. Also, they charge a destination fee which is similar to a resort fee. There are also some nude portraits in the hotel so be aware if you're traveling with children.

We stayed at the Andaz for my birthday and our experience was great from beginning to end. When we got there Kiyomi checked us in and she was wonderful. She recognized that it was my birthday and when we got back from parking our car and went to our room there was a small bottle of champagne and two glasses waiting for us and she called to make sure that we had received it. Such a thoughtful touch. The hotel is located on F St between 6th and 7th Ave right in the heart of the Gaslamp District. It's right around the corner from all the nightlife and action. It was a great location and the value was good for the price. The hotel has been renovated to have a modern boutique vibe and the room was also modern and comfortable. The bed was also the most comfortable hotel bed I think I have ever slept on. The view from the rooftop is great and looks like they draw a younger crowd there because of the modern vibe of the hotel. There is some noise from the street and the urban location means that there are many homeless people in the area so if those things bother you this may not be a location for you. Parking is down the street from the hotel but they do have valet who seemed to be very attentive. We had parking included in our rate so we were able to self park in the garage down the street. The hotel has a process for validating the parking which seems a little confusing when they first explain it, but it's not hard to figure out. That being said, because of the parking situation I would say that it is probably easier to just Uber/Lyft to places than try to drive and park elsewhere. Our check out from the hotel was very easy and we had no issues. Overall, we loved the Andaz and would definitely stay again in the future.

The room was clean and spacious. (We had a deluxe king.) However, I was disappointed in that they placed us right off the elevator and you could hear everything that everyone was saying as they were coming and going. We weren't going to ask to switch rooms since it was only one night. Regardless, one would hope that they wouldn't put guests in less than ideal rooms when they are no where near capacity. I later realized that they are well aware of the noise level that carries into the rooms because there is a big sign by the elevators that ask people to be quiet (in a nicer manner).Overall, all of the employees that we encountered were nice and professional and the rooms were super clean.

I think 3 stars is fair and when my husband and i can come back without the kids or maybe just with the older one we totally will and I'll update my review. Maybe the restaurant was super stressed that day i know there were events going on earlier.

Had a nice staycation at the Andaz! Unfortunately because of Covid there were some issues. I understand there needs to be precautions but they need to be consistent. Didn't understand how there could be a full breakfast available but they wouldn't serve welcome drinks or have happy hour or dinner like they normally do in the same outdoor space. Also asked for glasses, napkins, and a wine opener. So we got plastic glasses that were wrapped, tissue box instead napkins, and the wine opener. The hotel seemed empty, pool all to ourselves, daybeds were nice, room was comfortable and roomy. Bathroom was modern but the shower and toilet dripped. Nice desk setup. TV on the wall was nice but couldn't be moved to watch it comfortably from the sofa. Overall a decent stay.

This review is specifically for the roof top.My family from OC came to visit and they often stay in downtown. They said the service and rooms are way better here than Hilton! We went to the rooftop for breakfast. Nice outdoor patio on one side and then a small 3foot pool and cabanas on the other end. The view was also nice. For a second, we forgot we were in downtown surrounded by homeless population. Once you enter the lobby and go to the pool, the decor is modern chic. You get to vacation in style.

Only good if you don't care about sleeping. Terrible noise isolation and people who make a ton of noise throughout the night. The was definitely a waste of my annual Hyatt night from my credit card.

My favorite taphouse. Great selection of beers and even better company.I get my kegs from here as well! There are delicious fresh made tacos/burritos on Tues/Thurs but a bit pricey.

This is my third time staying in this hotel, and every time is so solid and remarkable. All of the staff go out of their way to give you a good experience. The staff were very attentive to my needs and never get tired of answering all of my questions to my full satisfaction in a very polite way. This hotel is indeed one of a kind! Highly recommended!

Trendy place to stay. Lots of fun! Went during Covid-19 and I felt very safe and secure with the social distancing measures being enforced. The rooftop pool and lounge were lots of fun. Great vibe and atmosphere. STK is downstairs and the food and drinks were top-notch with a great looking crowd. And finally, the staff of the hotel provided an exceptional experience. Staff like Kiyomi Smiley, who helped me overcome a hangover with plenty of water and an award-winning personality. It was so nice to see people and connect again. Definitely coming back.

Thanks to its large rooftop terrace, the Andaz San Diego manages to offer some semblance of pre-COVID normalcy: Breakfast in the morning and afternoon / evening drinks from the bar amongst the greenery. The pool is open as well. The rooms are well-appointed, service is friendly and professional. Visitors should be aware that there is no parking directly at the hotel - your options are to either use a valet service or to self-park at the mall two blocks down. The one negative thing is the destination fee, especially given that service is currently (understandably) more limited than usual.

Hotel is nicely updated. They are doing their best with covid and it's super appreciated. The room are pretty small no frills for a modern concept. The pool is also small but typically a part spot if it wasn't 2020. That said for the price I feel that they could have modernized a lil more. Food is serviced by STK downstairs so it's good but no frills menu. Def worth a stay if you're visiting but I'd compare to similar like Pendry etc.

Wonderful hotel .. but dont order the food from at the pool... its not worth it. . Spent about 70+dollors on a wagyu cheese burger and lobster mac and cheese... the burger bun looked like it came from costco the patty was small .. the patty was swimming in the bread .... And the mac and cheese tasted and looked like deluxe kraft mac and cheese....

Fantastic place to stay, STK, rooftop pool, deep soaking bath in the suite. The manager Jonathan went above and beyond for us.

The rooms were clean but the service was not better than a three. Could have actually went to a two. The food took hours and was way over priced. It’s definitely not Stk Las Vegas. Also 20$ for a salad and 23$ to add chicken wasn’t worth it all. If I’m going to pay 47$ for a salad at least give it in time and with good service

Hotel was nice but really no desk in the suite. Well they use a dresser as a desk which you can't even slide a chair under it so you can actually do work. No plans on using your computer then this is a great hotel.

Great property but you’re not going to get the value during COVID. The roof deck bar situation is a racket...$20 salads or other entree per person if you want to drink. They can’t sell chips and salsa or cheese plate for 10 bucks to get around these bogus state COVID regulations? Bums outside the rooms were screaming at all hours of the day. Room was nice though.

We stayed at the Andaz San Diego a few days after the soft re-opening because the location is excellent and we've stayed at other Andaz hotels in the past and had some of the best hospitality ever. They do a very good job of encouraging social distancing and supplying hand sanitizer. However, there were a few issues that took away from the Andaz experience I've come to love about the brand. First, there is no welcome wine or beer offered anymore due to COVID. I was able to get a drink credit for the bar after asking, but this should absolutely be offered to every guests since the website clearly still indicates there is a welcome drink upon arrival. There really isn't much of a lobby and it's not very welcoming, just a check-in desk and elevators with a few random chairs. The rooftop bar is open only on weekends (guests only) and very limited hours (this weekend was 4-8pm Friday, 12-6pm Sat/Sun). I don't understand why they close it down so early since they are only allowing guests of the hotel, and there were very few on the rooftop at all during our time visiting on Friday evening. I checked the rooftop doors around 9:15pm on Saturday and it was locked, even though at check-in they made it seem like this was always accessible even after the bar closed (we wanted to sit in the chairs and enjoy the view). Rooms were some of the smallest I've ever stayed in, and our view was just an empty courtyard looking directly into other rooms with no tint, so we had to keep our curtains closed at all times for privacy. I did appreciate the Keurig in the room and the housekeeping seemed to do their job well. For the price I paid, I do not recommend this hotel until things are back to somewhat normal. You're paying for the full experience, yet what you actually get is much more limited. The price per night should be adjusted to reflect that.

Far exceeding my expectations! I have never stayed at an Andaz location before but if the service and standards match the San Diego location, I will continue to use it as my preferred choice. I've always been a fan of Hyatt but this brand caters to a more hip, younger and trendy crowd without cutting corners. From the moment you check in, you are invited to relax with drinks and greeted with a warm welcome. All employees there were awesome, helpful and even though there is some wear and tear on the property, they've kept it very clean, fresh and styled to keep up with the customers. I arrived too early for my room but when I came back to check in, all my bags were already delivered and I loved that thoughtful touch. It was the perfect place for me to recover from my surgery because the beds were so comfortable I never wanted to leave. I thought it would be a loud party town and I would have to pack extra comforts but nothing of the sort. They had everything I could need. I was well rested, relaxed and well taken care of. The fact that pets stay free is alone deserving of 5 stars.
