Not for childrenI recently visited the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park, San Diego, with my family, and we found... it to be an immersive experience filled with hands-on activities that genuinely captivated our curiosity. The inclusion of a free movie ticket with entry is a nice touch, adding value to the overall experience. However, I must note that the ticket prices are on the higher side, so I recommend looking for coupons or visiting on discount days to make the most of your visit. While the center is primarily geared towards children, with a vast array of educational exhibits that are both fun and informative, I encountered an exhibit that I felt was designed to hypersexualize and groom children that had nothing to do with science but was completely politically motivated.I would give them a five-star review if it wasn't for this completely inappropriate section of the museum.read more

We expected more. I was so curious and excited to come here after visiting Balboa Park many times in the past.We... really did like the Serengeti IMAX show. But for the money spent (excess of $60 for me and 2 kids) it felt like a waste. The kids center was lacking. Some conveyor belts and the ball machine was entertaining, but the area overall was smaller, and just needed more. Some experiment stations downstairs were fun, but many did not hold the interest for most kids there. If anticipating a mind blowing experience, may consider either Discovery Cube in So. Cal, or the Frost Museum of Science if and when in Miami.read more

Great place to bring younger kids to check out and learn about the world around us through science and creative... visuals. Lots of interactive exhibits that encourage you to engage with them and plenty of things to see. Remember there is a free day each month too if you can take advantage of that. Interesting Science Center, but many exhibits are failing, and not 20% as impressive as San Francisco's... Exploratorium. The building workshop was interesting though. We loved the exhibits that taught about waves, electricity and light and sound. The shocker is the best- provides a static charge. I've loved this place ever since I was a young child and now I take my son here. If your child has the slightest... incoming towards science, take them. It may change their lives forever, it did for me. Parking can be a challenge sometimes, but every museum it's something unique and the science center is one of the best, interactive displays everywhere and even a place for children under 5 upstairs with Kid City at no extra cost. Sometimes the displays don't work and that can be frustrating (right now they have a little blimp trace thing that has been down for months, my Son has had us go back repeatedly to see if they've fixed it). I visited the center with my family two adults and 2 kids that center activity it’s interesting for kids , but it’s... only for one time visit but safe for one adult ticket price I think overpriced 25$ adult , 20$ kids for what they have inside in what kind of gadgets for they have inside , sum of the display was closed or it was not working , I’ll recommend better if you wanna go multiple times take , annual pass because it will gonna be more cheaper than take one day ticket for four people , we pay $80 +tax is not worth , plus they have a couple stuff inside where you need to pay extra money which one is not including and the ticket price. And I found one of the toy ship 🚢 was cracked , I reported to that employee and they said they gonna take care which one is good but I’ll check next time if they fix itread more

Wow, so I should have visited before I purchase an annual pass. I did not think in purchasing the pass that I would be... so terribly disappointed.I lost count how many exhibits are non-functional. If I were on the board of this organization, I'd be working with the local engineering departments of the 15 schools in a 100 mile radius to see if we could fix some of the exhibits for school credit of some kind (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, etc...)My most brutal take is their main money maker must be their in-house theater. That seemed to be well-oiled with no issues, especially since they play modern titles.Save your money, they're not working very hard to keep a large portion of their displays and features running at the moment.read more

I wish I could give this place less then a one star review. We came to watch Top Gun on a Friday night, and during the... best part of the movie, the movie start to skips and restarts. They put it back to where we were at, then it skipped non stop again. No manager or person came to the theatre to speak to us. Once everyone lost hope, we walked outside and the manger told everyone no refunds. Yea, can you believe that? Only thing they could offer was the same movie at a different date.Terrible experience. Ruined a great movie. This place is not worth it. Our necks were cranked looking up and side ways, on top of that no leg space because the chairs don’t recline.Do your self a favor and watch a person at a regular theatre. For the high prices of admission, this museum lacks to deliver any amusement or quality. Everything is mostly rundown,... dark and dysfunctional. The kids zone has such old toys you can’t even tell what kind of fruit or vegetable they’re playing with. The little rings that are supposed to roll on their own don’t even have a stick so you can interact with the display. The carpets are filthy and old. One of our twins was being cranky at that time and I was amazed that one of the staff members checked on us a couple of... times to make sure everything was okay. They gave our kids a variety of activities so that they could enjoy playing. I mean they have a technique to divert the negative energy of a child to a positive direction. Everything then was great and our kids were having a blast. They did not even want to leave, but it was time to go. We will definitely be returning.read more

Went for the kids night out and they loved it! My girls range from 4 years to 10 and it was appropriate for each. They... had pizza, got to free-explore the 3 main exhibits (the loved the "brain" and "energy" exhibits) and then they got to watch an IMAX movie with popcorn!! Much better than a babysitter and much preferred to the parents night out we tried at another place. Would definitely do it again. Worth the price!read more

It's mostly geared for kids but there are ample displays upstairs for adults. And, then, there is the domed theater... that offers a selection from a few venues that occassionally rotates with different films. The museum doesn't seem to have been very innovative as they haven't maintained old displays very well and they shut down the virtual reality ride that was a blast.read more

Great place to take the kids & family.... it's a free museum only asking for donations at end of your visit. So many... items of interest for everyone and it's hands on meaning you can feel free to examine, handle and/or play with things being careful not to break or linger too long on any one thing. They have clean bathrooms and a small gift shop. Plenty of free parking. Located in Balboa Park which is lovely anytime of year you also have coffee & dining areas and several museums as well as Botanical Gardens.read more

My son is 2 and he LOVED it! The science center is interactive, which is especially nice if your kid can stay in one... spot. Wish we could see the movies that are offered with the general admission. There is a skating rink inside as well, I general this is a great place for anyone who wants to learn a thing or two as well as kids.read more

The museum has plenty of attractions and was very inviting. My kids loved the Pause-Play section. Imax movie experience... was breathtaking. Even though they had the winter paradise exhibit, we really didn't enjoy the ice skating. The Fleet is San Diego's science center, bringing together the community, empowering educators and offering meaningful experiences that embrace the power of science and impact the world around us. It's right behind the San Diego Natural History Museum and you can park your car at the same spot to visit both these museums.Buy the San Diego Go Card to visit Zoo, Legoland, Sea world and Balboa museums.read more
